I completely understand how coming to see a counsellor for the first time could be scary. Sharing your experiences with someone who is a complete stranger can feel particularly unsettling. I want to reassure you that there is nothing to be fearful about. The first session is all about getting to know each other a little better. In the first session, an assessment is carried out to give me an understanding of the issues that may be troubling you to ensure that I am the "right fit" for you and to find out if you will feel comfortable working with me. We can discuss what you would like to achieve from therapy, and together, we can set some objectives that we can review regularly during our time together. These sessions are all about you, to allow you to discuss whatever you like completely confidentially within a safe environment. Everything discussed is completely confidential from our first point of contact and throughout our sessions.
I offer flexible options to access therapy, such as face-to-face, online, and phone. I can provide both short-term and long-term sessions. The length of time we may work together will depend on what you feel you need. You may find that you only need a few sessions to get help with a specific issue or longer term for more complex issues. Short term work tends to be around 6-8 sessions, however, we can discuss available options together as you are in control of your counselling sessions.
